The Leaning Leadership Ladder
From the Archives: Leadership Essays That Still Matter

Revisiting leadership, work, faith, and civic responsibility—then and now.

Introduction

Over the years, I’ve written extensively about leadership, work, faith, civic life, and the human responsibilities that bind them together. Some of these essays were written in response to specific moments. Others were written with a longer horizon in mind.

Rather than letting those reflections disappear into the algorithmic past, I’m intentionally resurfacing them—grouped, contextualized, and reintroduced for today.

This issue is a starting point. In the weeks ahead, I’ll revisit these themes more deeply, connecting earlier insights with present challenges.

🧭 Leadership & Responsibility

Leadership is not positional first; it is moral, relational, and formative.

🧠 Work, Focus, and Formation

How we structure our days shapes who we become—and how we serve others.

🤝 Civility, Community, and Democracy

Civic life depends on habits of listening, restraint, courage, and shared responsibility.

✍️ Writing, Voice, and Influence

Words shape thought. Thought shapes action. Influence carries responsibility.

🌱 Faith, Meaning, and the Inner Life

Leadership without inner formation eventually collapses under its own weight.

Closing

These essays reflect an ongoing conversation rather than a finished system.

In upcoming issues, I’ll revisit specific pieces—updating, reframing, and extending them in light of current realities. If any of these themes resonate with you, consider this your invitation to read along.
